First, a brief bit of info.
This site, is 2 sites, combined to one.
We have the Community Room, and Stories
Community Room is run by a CMS (Content Management System) called
Joomla.
Joomla provides us the ability to do the Bulletin Board, and many other little features.
Stories, is run by a CMS called
eFiction.
eFiction is specifically written to power Fiction/Story sites. But that is pretty much ALL it does. It's a GREAT way to archive stories, in a way that does not limit story length, like many of the CMS's out there.
What we have done, is BRIDGED the 2 pieces of software together. We did this using a bit of software called
JFiction written by a very generous individual.
Now, we don't know if it's JFiction, or Joomla, or eFiction, but one of them is causing problems.
Because of this, it sometimes takes 2 tries to login, and you can't get logged in to the Stories side of things.
Right now, we are allowing registrations, and Forum postings, and such.....
But new stories are on hold for the time being.
I planed to spend the day working out the bugs in the system, and I did some of that, but there is a slight issue delaying things. I have no internet...
Well, that's not true, I have access from time to time to wireless connections and access via my phone, but I don't have the ability to hack away at the bits I need to to fix the site.
As soon as I have stable internet again, I will begin digging on the site.
This site has been in the works for over a YEAR now. We started building "mock up" sites last June, and spent the months before that, as general planning.
I'm just afraid I jumped the gun in releasing it to everyone when I did. I really wanted to be able to give it camp goers as a Camp Gift, and to the rest of the internet as a Christmas Gift.... Maybe I should shoot for a New-Years gift now?
